Members are invited to join the ladies of Arizona for their Annual Council Meeting.
Their guest speaker will be J.K. Wight, a docent at the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) based at Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport. His talk will be the story of one RAF student pilot who was sent to Mesa at the beginning of WWII to learn how to fly - Arizona chosen no doubt due to our excellent weather which makes almost every day a good day for flying. The student returned to England and flew Mk-1X Spitfires in the fight against Hitler. Unfortunately, more than twenty RAF student pilots did not survive their flying lessons and they are buried at Falcon Field cemetery. The city of Mesa, along with DBE, honors them every November in a moving ceremony.
