Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cups dark molasses
2/3 of a cup cold water
7 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
Method
Mix brown sugar, molasses, shortening, and water together in a large bowl.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Cover and refrigerate for two hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll dough out 1/4 inch thick on floured surface.
Cut with floured cookie cutters.
Place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
Remove from pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
Decorate with frosting, colored sugar or candies.
